Forever Fushigi Yuugi
      Byakko: Ikimashu!



      Okay, this is what I, Byakkoseikun, have to say about this Fushigi Yuugi webpage.

      The agonizingly slow load time and backgrounds that make it impossible to read the text have already been mentioned by the other gods, so I'll skip that. Perhaps Taila could put the huge .wav files and pretty background images on another page, as links, so people can chose whether to view/listen to them.

      One thing that bothers me, as Byakko, is pages that steal content without proper credit. ( Those three other gods get cameos in the series? But do *I* ever get my 15 minutes of anime fame? NO! They stole the spotlight! ^_- ) This page, although it *has* its own original content in the character profiles, counterbalances by being stealing images, information, and other people's hard work, without even a proper credit. Here's a list of the pages this page has stolen from:
      • genesis.simplenet.com - the entire image gallery, down to the thumbnails and HTML!
      • Mark Neidengard's FY screencap archive
      • Yui No Miko's Yui-sama shrine - those little burning flames beside the logo, other images
      • The Continuous Fushigi Yuugi The LD covers on the mainpage, with the Suzaku and Seiryuu sides.
      • The SD Image collection *not mentioned on the link list*
      • Tasuki No Miko's Fushigi Yuugi page the Lyric page is hers.
      • The Happy Hyper Elfies - who no longer have a page, so all those episode summary links are broken.
      • The Konan Country Cross-Dressing Coalition - some images *not mentioned on the link list*
      • Wo Ai Fushigi Yuugi - all the mini-album covers, and I suspect the tracklistings, too. *not mentioned on the link list*
      • Miaka, Suzaku No Miko's webpage - more images and CD info. *not mentioned on the link list*
      • EX Online Magazine, the FY special - the "Other Characters" page. ^_- In its entirety. *not mentioned on the link list*
      • The Seiryuu Shrine - images, info, HTML, banners - a lot of things. Seiryuu, you ought to be annoyed! *not mentioned on the link list
      • Sai's page - a lot of the midi's. *not mentioned on the link list*
      • fushigiyuugi.com - more midi's. None of the Midi's are credited. BAD. *not mentioned on the link list*
      Only a few of these sites are mentioned in the link list. But how did I know exactly what the webmaster took from where?

      Because I'm a god, and I know these things. ^_-

      And because Taila committed something of a big no-no.

      Taila directly linked from their sites.

      Now, in the case of Geocities sites, it's less harmful. But in the case of the image gallery, which is entirely linked to Genesis', it's VERY bad. Genesis has to pay for his/her site. The more people view it, the more he/she has to pay. And to directly link to his/her site means that Genesis has to pay for people viewing his/her image gallery, WITHOUT even going to his/her page! The same applies for the others who don't use free servers.

      And that's really not fair, or nice.

      I have no way of knowing whether Taila asked any of these people for permission to use their images/info/whatever. If they said okay, then it's fine, but just, as a courtesy, one should put the images on their *own* account, not just link directly, for the reason mentioned above. AND one should properly link to/credit one's sources. I don't see this done here, and it's making me very angry. And very hungry. You don't want to make a god hungry, now do you?

      This page has the potential to be a good Fushigi Yuugi page. It does! The Suzaku character profiles were original thoughts by the webmaster, not just regurgitated stats! If all the characters were done this way - if all the *pages* were done this way, we'd give it our seal of approval. But the massive, uncredited stealing is a BIG no-no.

      I'd have to give this page two big thumbs-down. I'd eat it, but I don't think it'd taste like chicken.

      Maybe I'll just go out for a burger instead. ^_^ You other gods with me on this one?
